“Happiness comes from living as you need to, as you want to. As your inner voice tells you to. Happiness comes from being who you actually are instead of who you think you are supposed to be.”
I am a fan of Shonda and her work and so it was a no-brainer that I would be first in line to suggest we read her book as our first Book Club read for the year.
The tribe however had varying opinions on her writing style; “It was too casual, all over the place and felt like one was reading a script“. The one thing we did agree on is that the book had chapters for women from various walks of life. The Year of Yes concept is one that gripped almost everyone in the book club with each of us identifying an area in our lives we were committing to working on. And area we were willing to say YES to. It is a book that is a call to action. A book that calls for women to be kinder to themselves. A book that calls women to boldly and bravely stand in the light and let themselves be seen.
I am particularly excited for the moment when we get to the end of the year and check in with each other and how many things we managed to say YES to.
Overall, it was a quick and easy read and would definitely recommend it
