This is my friend, mother, sister and first ever official running partner, Wierzah.
Wie is one of those people who are so easy to judge
She a stunner. She’s super confident. She is kak talkative. And so extra.
Spend five minutes with her and you will come to realise that she is one of the most kind, big-hearted, loving, hilarious and super-duper awesome human beings.
I am a sucker for unexpected friendships. I am bat crazy about people who ooze authenticity. I can’t help but gravitate towards human beings who are passionate about life. And she is one of them
Most of the time I have spent with Wie has been on the road, running. She woke up one day and decided that she wanted to smash a marathon… 5 months after having given birth to one of the cutest little humans.
It has been an honour watching her in action. Witnessing her resilience, competitiveness with self and others. Digging deep and demanding more from self.
I don’t know what you were smoking when you looked at me and decided that I was the one who would help get you to the finish line. But thank you. Thank you for entrusting me with your journey. Thank you for teaching me to be extra patient. Thank you for helping become a better teacher, a better coach. A better human being.
You have no idea just how much I love and appreciate you. I am super proud of the great strides you have taken towards breaking boundaries and tapping into your greatest strengths.
Oh. And thank you for giving birth to the most crazy, hilarious, genius and absolutely adorable children. I am keeping you as a part of my life forever and ever. My special God sent.
Anyways, this essay was meant to be a CONGRATULATORY MESSAGE to Wierzah for smashing Cape Town marathon. My job here is done. Go forth and flourish dearest one.
